#scripturedoodle Christmas Cards

Finally a new post after two months of no posting! Since my last post I had a baby and have been figuring out what motherhood shared with work looks like. Needless to say I feel like it is conquering the world just to get this post up!

I'm excited to share some Christmas #scripturedoodles that I've done and recently had made into Christmas cards. Each of these illustrations comes from the Luke 2 Christmas story. The story is also shared in Matthew which I haven't made any doodles of yet. We miss out on the wise men in Luke, as they are only mentioned in the Matthew portion, but you get most of the story nonetheless.

I'm thinking of doing a Christmas #scripturedoodle collaboration the last 12 days leading up to Christmas, so stay tuned via twitter to join in. In the mean time I hope you enjoy these!

A Halloween #scripturedoodle

My first thought when I considered doing a Halloween doodle today was... Is that legal? So many people have strong opinions either way, especially believers. In our home we don't exercise strong opinions either way, we do hand out candy as a chance to bless the kids in our neighborhood, but we don't have any little ones yet and my trick or treating stance may change some day.

That being said as a pondered if it was legal to merge Halloween with a #scripturedoodle I was reminded that God is bigger than all of it. Even thought Halloween is considered a "pagan" holiday, I think that God is a fan of His truth being shared in any way on any day. So I decided to go for it. Share his truth with a jack O' lantern in the background, why not.

The verse fror this #scripturedoodle is Romans 6:23, certainly a scary fate if we do not choose life. Enjoy!

James 1:17 Custom #scripturedoodle

This morning I had the sweet privilege of finishing up a custom #scripturedoodle for a friend. She is having a little girl in December and had asked me to create a picture for her similar to my Psalm 139:13 doodle but by using this verse: "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the Heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows". I love this verse and I think it could be made into a totally different #scripturedoodle than what I created for Heather...that is what's so awesome about God's word it is applicable in so many different ways. I would love to see a #scripturedoodle of your's on this same verse.  Send them to me here and I'd love to share them on the blog. Here is what I created for Heather:

As this scripture talks about gifts I opted for a spool of ribbon instead of a needle and thread. I was able to keep the same feel as the other image while matching the scripture being used. I'm happy with the final image. I will soon have prints available of this in my shop as well as a blue option for baby boys. Thanks for reading!

Doodle of the Day: 1Samuel 1:27

Recently I've had the privilege to put together a #scripturedoodle themed around adoption for our church nursery. They have decided to bless new families with a print of my work. Most families will receive my Psalm 139:13 Scripture Doodle, but families choosing to adopt their little ones will be given this Scripture Doodle.

I'm so blessed to be part of what God's doing at our church. I chose footprints for this doodle because it's sweet for a boy or a girl, I added the world because adoption is so about caring for God's children everywhere, not just in your home town. What a special calling it is to adopt and what a blessing when God's people say yes to bringing His children into their family.

I've decided that 20% of each sale of this print will be given to support a local adoption community in Charleston called Journey Together Ministries. You can order your print here.

Doodle of the Day: Galatians 6:9

I just finished this custom #scripturedoodle for a friend of mine, and I want to share it with you. This is a familiar verse to many and a good reminder that our labor is not it vain, but God sees it and in His time we will see the harvest of our labor. You can purchase a print of this doodle in our shop.

Scripture Doodle in Sydney!

So excited to have my new friend Cathie sharing with us today about sharing #scripturedoodle on the other side of the world. She has been a blessing to me even if only through instagram and google+ Here she is...

My name is Cathie and I’m from Sydney, Australia. I came across #scripturedoodle through Instagram. I truly feel that God led me to it!
Like so many people, I sometimes struggle to read and remember what I’ve read in the Bible. I worked as a high school art teacher before becoming a Mum to my two boys. I gave #scripturedoodling a go and have really found it such a great way for me (a visual and kinaesthetic learner) to engage with scripture and remember themes and verses.

I recently contacted April to chat about holding a #scripturedoodle workshop on our church camp. I’ve just returned from camp where we had about 25 ladies from 16 to 60s come along, mull over the word and #scripturedoodle-up-a-storm.

Some people knew exactly what they wanted to draw and for others, we read passages and discussed with each other our ideas before getting started – which was a really great process in itself. All the ladies were enthusiastic about the whole workshop and were really encouraged by the diversity of peoples’ different styles and interpretations.

Since our #scripturedoodle workshop I know that a few one-to-one Bible reading pairs at church (part of our womens’ ministry initiative) are planning to use #scripturedoodle in their meetings – I’ve started doing it in my pair, and we have been finding it such a refreshing, fun and challenging way to read the Bible.
I am just so excited to keep drawing from the Word and so thankful to God for being able to share in #scripturedoodle.

So blessed to have Cathie sharing the vision! Follow her on instagram @teawillowtree.

Doodle of the Day: from Andi Allison

Today I get to share a #scripturedoodle from a sweet girl who TRULY has a gift for the art of the doodle. Andi is a new aquaintance of mine met through the fabulous world of social media specifically instagram. As crazy as social media can be I  love it for the days when I get to connect with people like Andi. She is a young artist who loves the Lord and is navigating her way through college trying to decide what she'll do when she graduates, (sounds like me 6 years ago). To sweet girls like Andi I say, go for it! Follow the dream, you have the gifts and the heart to persevere through the journey. If YOU need a little dream stirring I would love to chat! email me: worshipartistministries@gmail.com

This is just one of Andi's fabulous #scripturedoodles from Matthew 5:14. You can follow Andi on instagram: @andiallison

Doodle of the Day: Proverbs 17:17

The other day I woke up with an idea for the sweetest #scripturedoodle to hang in Baby Knight's nursery (arriving this December). We are doing yellow, red and gray as our nursery colors so this doodle idea was perfect. It's also a great and easily understandable truth for kids.  This #scripturedoodle is the first one I have introduced color into, you wouldn't think it would take this long since I am primarily a painter. Yay to new things. I used gouache paint, pen and bristol paper.

Once I did this doodle I thought, I could do a whole series of "kid friendly" scripture doodles with fun illustrations of God's truth tailored for kids, thinking I need to jump on that wagon. So much to do and so many doodles in my brain! I was just telling the Lord, today is one of those days I wish I could just #scripturedoodle all day!

Please enjoy this doodle and show it to your kids! You can purchase a print of this doodle here. If you are interested in having me do a "kid friendly" #scripturedoodle for you email me: worshipartistministries@gmail.com.

Doodle of the Day: Psalm 112:7-8

Today I'm sharing a custom #scripturedoodle that I just finished for a friend of mine. She asked me to doodle this verse because it's been on her heart and she wanted it to be in front of her daily so she could read it and claim it over her life. I was SO honored to do so. That is what God's word is all about, reading it, writing it on our hearts and claiming it for our lives. So blessed to be part of God's work.
You can purchase a print of this original here.

Also, if you're interested in having a custom #scripturedoodle done for you, you can do so in our Etsy shop!

Doodle of the Day: Proverbs 31:25

Today, one of my favorite #scripturedoodles ever from one of the sweetest gals, my friend Emily. I have watched Emily grow into a beautiful woman of God since meeting her 8 years ago. Emily truly has a gift from the Lord in creativity and the arts, and I'm so honored she's shared it with us. Here is her doodle.

My favorite part of this piece is the mixed media and the expression on her face. Be sure to follow Emily on Twitter and Instagram @rademily, to keep up with all her awesome pictures.

A Thank You Doodle: Luke 8:39

Recently Robert and I have been through a short but tough season where we felt very strapped financially. We decided to start praying for God's blessing over our finances, partly because we didn't know what else to do, but also because He tells us to pray. Since we tithe, and His word says he will open the floodgates when we do so in my heart we knew God would make a way for us (Malachi 3:10). So we prayed and budgeted like we never have before and we made it through. The miracle of it all is that since we started praying just a few short weeks ago we have been so blessed financially through my art ministry. God is SO good. I knew He was our provider, but when we were praying for the provision we were more aware of the blessing as it came.

As I lay in bed this morning I was just recounting all of His blessings these past few weeks, and I was overwhelmed with thanks. So I did a thank you doodle for God!

This verse comes from Luke when Jesus healed a man and then told him to go and share all that the Lord had done for him, just after this verse the text reads, "so the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him". That is me today, telling you how much Jesus has done for us. God is so good, and faithful and He answers the prayers of his children. And when He answers our prayers, we give thanks!

By the way, this is a doodle of our sweet house 1445 Bexley!

Doodle of the Day: Hebrews 12:15

Today's doodle comes from my best friend Angela! When I first started Scripture Doodle Angela was for sure supportive but didn't join in. Then a few months ago I asked her and a few others to do a collaboration with me and she said yes! During which Angela was the most consistent in doodling everyday, she put us all to shame :). Since then she has been doodling often and I just love that she has joined in. Here is her picture from Hebrews. Be sure to follow her on instagram and twitter: @angelarhodes5

Doodle of the Day: Isaiah 26:4

Today I made a new #scripturedoodle for our family. Robert and I have asked the Lord for a new season of refreshing in God's word and learning to surrender our worries to the Him (specifically our finances in this season). Knowing the Lord is always faithful but wanting a reminder for our family I doodled this verse, one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy it, you can purchase the print in our shop .

Doodle of the Day: James 2:13b

Here is a great reminder for all of us, I did this #scripturedoodle sometime last year when I first started this journey. This is one of those short and sweet verses that I know we would benefit from having in our house. In fact I believe I will frame it and put it up today.
If you would also like to benefit from this truth and hang it in your home you can print it here

Scripture Doodle art class!

Last night I had the sweet privilege of teaching a #scripturedoodle art class to the college ministry at our church. One of my favorite parts about #scripturedoodle is sharing it with others. Most of the people participating had heard about the concept, but I was almost more excited for those who hadn't. I had the opportunity to share about it and then lead everyone in creating their own painting of a scripture that they loved. We all started with a sketch and from there added paint and canvas to bring the doodle to life. I was there to give pointers and encourage the creativity in the room, but truly everyone jumped right in and did an awesome job!!

Here are some pictures from the fun we had last night!

Doodle of the Day: Isaiah 1:7

This my friends is where it all started. Today I am sharing my very first #scripturedoodle completed sometime last spring. The long and short of it, is that I was in a bad mood feeling starved artistically and I wanted to do something creative. All I had was a bible, pen and paper. And the Lord led me to this verse. When I read it I thought it was so odd that I had to draw a picture of it. I tweeted it and then as the wheels started turning, thus began #scripturedoodle. As an artist I truly feel anytime I do something cool it is a direct deposit from God in Heaven, this was one of those times.

Send us your first #scripturedoodle so we can share them: worshipartistministries@gmail.com

Doodle of the Day: 1Corinthians 13:4

I'm excited to share a #scripturedoodle today from a good friend of our Brandon Lake. Brandon works at our church and he and his lovely wife are in our small group. If you know Brandon it's most likely from hearing him sing, he is a gifted worship leader and songwriter. However, Brandon is one of those closet artists I talk about sometimes. That's why I love when people try #scripturedoodle because you can discover a sweet skill that maybe they didn't even know they had. Here is Brandon's very first #scripturedoodle, I can't wait to see more. Be sure to follow Brandon on twitter and instagram: @brandonlake

Doodle of the Day: Ezekiel 36:26

I am reading a great bible study through youversion.com called "Living the Surrendered Life" and today the key verse was this one from Ezekiel. I love the truth of this statement, so thankful our God truly does remove our old and replace it with new. I've made this 8x10 print available for purchase in our Etsy Shop.

Doodle of the Day: Galations 6:9

Three fold

I've found with #scripturedoodle is that it's a three fold thing. 1. it is for me, as I doodle I spend time in the word and draw near to God. 2. It is for God, I use my time in scripture doodle  as a time of worship and giving to our Father. 3. It is for others, every so often I feel the Lord lead me to do a #scripturedoodle for someone else, to share the truth with someone in a time of struggle as a reminder that our God is faithful. Here is a doodle I did for my bestie the other day. Who will you doodle for?

Doodle of the Day: Micah 6:8

After a restful vacation we are back in the game of posting daily doodles here on our blog. Sorry for the hiatus. Today I want to share a #scritpuredoodle from a good friend of ours Brandon Hair. My husband and Brandon work together at our church in the family ministry department. I recently asked some guy friends of mine to put a doodle together for our blog post, because I love seeing what they come up with. Here is Brandon's doodle, one of my favorite verses from Micah:

Scripture Doodle Family Style

I have been blessed to have the opportunity to lead a few #scripturedoodle workshops and at one I met the lovely Shannon. The other day Shannon shared with me that she has been using #scripturedoodle in her family devotional time. Here she shares about the experience:

I have been truly seeking God about how He thinks I can reach all of my family in a way that will excite them and also minister at the same time. I wanted to do more than just sit around and try to explain a devotional to a 8, 13, and 17 year old. I don't want it to be religious. I want them to love Jesus. So I was in my quiet time and He spoke to my heart and said Scripture Doodle. I would of never thought of that, it was so HIM!  My husband is an artist so He loved the idea. They still talk about how they can't wait for us to do it again. Thank you for responding to him when He came to you with this amazing way to express our personal relationship with him. LOVE IT!!!!

Here are some pictures of their time together. We would love to see yours, send them to worshipartistministries@gmail.com.

#iamHIS Collaboration Update

A few days ago I posted about a new collaboration that we have started that's open for everyone! You can read more about it here. I have got to say, I am just loving it so much! I thought it would be difficult to find scriptures that go together with each word that I picked for the letter, but it has been fun and easy. I have been using the you version app on my phone to search different phrases and I love choosing a verse from the search results. I have been thinking how sweet this will be to come back to these letter doodles on days where I feel like I have no good thing in me.

Here are a few of the #iamHIS doodles:

If you haven't been part of this collaboration, PLEASE join us! post your Doodles and hashtag #iamHIS and #scripturedoodle. Today's letter is E!

Letter of the Day Scripture Doodle

Today we are starting up a "Letter of the Day" #scripturedoodle collaboration to which EVERYONE is invited. Last week one of my best gals Kristin called me to share this spin on #scripturedoodle idea. The back story on Kristin is that she is probably the best 3rd grade teacher there ever was and seriously one of my dearest friends. Being an elementary school teacher she spends lots of time with the Alphabet. Her idea is to take a letter of the Alphabet each day starting at the beginning and with that letter choose three words that God says we are, or that we want to be in Christ, make the words personal to yourself and then search for a scripture that might talk about it. Then do a #scritpuredoodle of those words and letter with the scripture intertwined. Be sure to hashtag #scriputredoodle and #iamHIS so we can follow yours and retweet. Our prayer is that these 26 days will be a time of refreshing and building up our spirits to know that in Christ we are so many good things. Here is Kristin's "A" doodle. I will be posting mine later this morning. Can't wait to see yours!

Doodles of the Day: Worship Week

This week I had the opportunity to lead an art camp for our church's Worship Week. We introduced the kids to #scripturedoodle and they did an awesome job illustrating the verses they were given. Even at a young age it is so sweet to see how the word comes alive in their imagination. The sweetest part is that they are hearing and taking in the TRUTH.

Here are two of my favorites:

Matthew 6:22

Ephesians 6:16
